The White House has commented on the threats regarding the possible closure of the TikTok platform in the United States, noting that these statements are only an attempt at manipulation. The representatives of the administration stressed that they do not see any reason for such steps before the start of the work of the new government, which will take place as early as next Monday.
According to the press secretary of the White House, Karin Jean-Pierre, the implementation of legal requirements related to TikTok and other companies will fall on the shoulders of the future administration.
The threat to ban the Chinese platform in the US comes amid a Supreme Court ruling that stopped short of overturning a law requiring TikTok’s parent company Bytedance to sell its assets by Sunday or face a ban on the service.
