President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he plans to nominate Fox News anchor Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense.

“I am honored to announce that I have confirmed Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense in my Cabinet,” he wrote on Truth Social.

Trump noted that Hegseth spent his entire life as a warrior and named him tough, smart and those who sincerely believe in the thesis America above all.”

“With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies must be on the alert – our military will be great again and America will never back down,” he said.

Hegseth was considered a candidate for the post of Secretary of Veterans Affairs in the Trump administration as early as 2017. He is an officer in the US Army National Guard and has served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

On November 7, Axios reported, citing its sources, that Donald Trump plans to form a national security team of businessmen and company executives, avoiding the appointment of former generals to avoid the divisions he faced during his first term.

On November 11, CNN, citing sources, reported that Trump will appoint Stephen Miller as the White House’s deputy chief of staff for political affairs. Miller served as a senior adviser to Trump during his first term as president and was a prominent supporter of tough immigration policies.

Also, according to the media, Trump is most likely to choose Florida Senator Marco Rubio for the position of Secretary of State. CNN notes that this appointment will indicate the readiness of the US president-elect to intensify relations with the PRC.

On November 12, Trump confirmed that he would appoint Florida Congressman Mike Waltz as national security adviser in his incoming administration and announced the upcoming appointment of South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to head the Department of Homeland Security in his new administration.

Trump also offered American businessmen Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy the positions of heads of the new Ministry for Government Efficiency.
