Direct speech Trump: “Maduro’s illegitimate regime uses the oil from these stolen oil fields to fund its narco-terrorism, human trafficking, murders and kidnappings.”
“For the theft of our assets and for many other reasons, including terrorism, drug smuggling and human trafficking, the Venezuelan regime has been designated a foreign terrorist organization.
Therefore, today I am ordering the implementation of a complete and total blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela.”
Details: In his post, Trump emphasized that “Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest armada ever assembled in the history of South America.”
Direct speech Trump: “It’s only going to get bigger, and they’re going to have a shock like they’ve never felt before — until they give back to the United States of America all the oil, land, and other assets they stole from us.”
What preceded: American forces, concentrated in the Caribbean, took full control of an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela on December 10.
At the end of November, Trump said that the United States would “very soon” begin to take measures to stop the ground movement of Venezuelans suspected of drug trafficking.
We will remind: On November 14, US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth announced the start of a large-scale military operation, which, according to the official statements of the US administration, is aimed at combating drug trafficking.
However, the unprecedented deployment of military forces, including an aircraft carrier strike group, and earlier discussions in the White House about options for military operations in Venezuela could indicate a possible military intervention.
Previously, a number of American media, including The New York Times, reported that the Trump administration was studying options for legalizing Venezuela’s declaration of war and the use of special forces to conduct ground operations on its territory.
