Trump’s direct speech: “He would like to end the war – that was their impression. I think he would like to go back to normal, trading with the US instead of losing thousands of soldiers every week. They had a strong impression that he wanted to make a deal.”
Details: According to him, Putin had a “good meeting” with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.
“I can’t tell you what will come out of this meeting, because it takes two to tango,” Trump added.
He also stated that earlier there was a better time to settle the war, and now there are allegedly many things against Kyiv.
“When I was in this office and said about the lack of maps (Trump is obviously referring to the infamous meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky on the last day of the winter of 2025, – ed.) – then there was a better time for a settlement. But they decided not to do it. Now there are many things against them,” the US president said.
At the same time, he added that a lot of work was done with Ukraine and “they were satisfied.”
