The agreement on liberalization of freight transportation between Ukraine and the European Union, known as “transport visa waiver”, was extended until December 31, 2025, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal said.

According to the terms of the agreement, Ukrainian car carriers will continue to carry out freight transportation to EU countries without the need to obtain special permits.

Schmigal noted that this is the fourth prolongation of the agreement, which confirms its effectiveness, since the export of Ukrainian goods by highways to the EU has increased by 42%, importing by motor transport – by 37%.

According to the prime minister, “transport visa waiver” is part of Ukraine’s sectoral integration into Europe and an important prerequisite for access to the European Union.

In June 2024 Ukraine and the European Commission continued the action of “transport visa waiver” for a year with the possibility of its “automatic prolongation” by the end of 2025. The updated agreement provides for a number of mutual obligations to have licenses for transportation and marking of trucks. It is about marking trucks that perform transportation in accordance with the agreement; the need for all drivers to have a license for transportation or other supporting documents when carrying out transportation; Obligations for carriers that follow the empty goods have confirming documents for the goods they plan to import.
