The third number of the ATP rating Alexander Zverev from Germany won the opening match at the ATP 2025 Final Tournament, held in Turin (Italy).

In the first round of Bjorn Borg’s group, Zverev beat the American in two sets Ben Shelton (ATP 6) in 1 hour and 33 minutes.

Alexander Zverev (Germany) – Ben Shelton (USA) – 6:3, 7:6 (8:6)

In the second game tiebreak, Shelton won 6:3 (had three set points, including two on serve), but was unable to take the game to the third set.

Zverev and Shelton held their fifth face-to-face confrontation. Alexander defeated Ben for the fifth time.

Zverev is a two-time champion of the Final Tournament. In one quartet, Alexander and Ben perform together with Yannick Sinner and Felix Auger-Alassime.

Shelton played for the fifteenth time against a tennis player from the top 3 ATP rankings and lost the 15th match.
