“ITIA confirmed that three tennis players were temporarily removed from the competition”, – WRITE: Sport.ua
29-year-old Conner Urtas Del Pino (Peru), 24-year-old Mateo Barreiros Reies (Brazil) and 30-year-old Andres Urrea (Columbia) passed the competitive doping tests during the ATP tournament Chelener series in Bogota (Columbia) on May 14, 2025.
The samples were divided into samples A and B. The analysis showed that the samples A of all three players contains a Boldenone – a forbidden substance belonging to the category of anabolic agents (Section S1 [1.1] The list of prohibited substances of the World Anti -Doping Agency for 2025). Boldenone is an unspecified substance, and none of the players had a valid permission for therapeutic use (TUE) of this substance.
On July 7, 2025, the ITIA sent a preliminary notice to each of the tennis players about the violation of anti -doping rules in accordance with Article 2.1 Tadp (the presence of a prohibited substance in a player sample) and/or Article 2.2 (use of a prohibited substance without a valid TUE).
The detection of unspecified substances provides for a mandatory temporary removal – in each case it came into force on July 7, 2025.
Players have the right to contact the head of an independent tribunal to remove temporary removal. As of today, none of them has submitted such an appeal.
At the time of temporary removal of Wertas del Pino, Barreiros Rayes and Urrea, they cannot participate in tournaments, train or attend measures that are sanctioned by ITIA, ITF, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, France Federation, Vimbold, Vimbold, and Uimbold.
ITIA is an independent organization created by members of world tennis in order to promote, support, strengthen and protect the principles of integrity in professional tennis tournaments.
