Thousands of national security proceedings were opened during the full-scale war in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in February 2022, the State Bureau of Investigation has examined almost 2,500 national security proceedings. Almost 1,000 indictments were sent to the court, the SBI reported. “Within open criminal proceedings, evidence and testimony of witnesses, etc. are collected. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in February 2022, the State Bureau of Investigation has examined almost 2,500 national security proceedings.

Almost 1,000 indictments were sent to the court, the SBI reported.

“Within open criminal proceedings, evidence and testimony of witnesses, etc. are collected. This evidence makes it possible to prosecute those who betrayed Ukraine during the war. According to some criminal proceedings, the courts have already assigned real terms of imprisonment to the detained defectors,” the department specified.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the SBI has investigated 2,000 cases. 399 criminal proceedings regarding crimes against the national security of our state, such as:

  • 1 thousand 746 criminal proceedings – based on the fact of treason (Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),
  • ⁠⁠503 criminal proceedings – based on the fact of collaborative activity (Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),
  • ⁠⁠38 criminal proceedings – against accomplices of the aggressor state (Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and others.

According to the results of pre-trial investigations:

  • 1 thousand 239 persons were notified of suspicion,
  • ⁠⁠501 persons are declared wanted,
  • 1 thousand 317 people are being investigated for involvement in treason and collaborative activities,
  • ⁠⁠997 indictments have been sent to the court.

Earlier we wrote that, according to the survey results, 45% of Ukrainians trust the State Bureau of Investigation, and at the same time, 50% of respondents express distrust.

We also reported that the SBI announced criminal cases against officials who issued false disability certificates.
