At least 4,500 cars that were brought to Ukraine as charitable (humanitarian) aid in recent years ended up on the commercial market.
This is stated in the NGL.media investigation.
Journalists tracked cars imported from December 1, 2023 to May 8, 2025 (almost 100,000 cars) and found that at least 4,545 units (about 5% of the total) were put up for sale on the AUTO.RIA marketplace.
Most of the identified cases of sales are to charitable foundations. Among the “leaders in sales” of such cars are Kyiv-based “Lyubov Rydnoi Zemlya” (more than 190 cars), Kyiv-based “Apostola Andriy Pervozvanny” (188) and Rivne-based “Nezlamnist.UA” (182). None of the five leading organizations responded to media inquiries.
Although the real scale of trade is probably larger, since AUTO.RIA is not the only platform.
Cases of sale of cars brought to the village council of the village of Sokilnyky (Lviv region) and to the Dnipro district military administration (Mitsubishi Pajero and L200 SUVs) were also found. The head of the Sokilnytsia Village Council, Taras Sulymko, explained the sale of one car by the fact that it was given free of charge to a soldier who was later demobilized, and other servicemen “probably sold it.”
We will remind, in Bukovyna law enforcement officers exposed a scheme with humanitarian aid. Employees of the charity organization sold cars imported as humanitarian aid to volunteers.
Earlier in Lviv Oblast, the SBU blocked a scheme for the sale of bulletproof vests received as humanitarian aid.
