Over the past month and a half, the Russian army has intensified its offensive in the northern regions of Donetsk region — in particular, in the Lyman direction — to try to capture Liman and then advance to Slovyansk.
On November 1, he announced this on the air of the Suspilne project. Maksym Bilousov, a representative of the 60th Separate Mechanized Ingulets Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told the studio.
“The direction is a high priority, because it is one of the possible ways of exiting the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. It is very important for them to capture Liman and through it, through Raihorodok, to reach Slovyansk,” he said.
In addition, according to Bilousov, the Russian occupiers are trying to force the Zherebets River to the east of the Liman.
“It is important for them to get to Liman through the Zherebets River. That is, in the short term – access to the Liman. All other settlements are too small to be targeted. There is a certain difficulty here, it is necessary to go directly to them. It will be difficult for them from the flanks due to the conditions of the area, due to the features of the terrain,” he said.
As Bilousov noted, in order to achieve success in the Lyman direction, the army of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation transferred more prepared units to this section of the front.
“The last month and a half – constant attacks, constant assaults by the enemy. And if earlier they were, one might say, convicts or inexperienced enemy soldiers, now well-prepared groups are already appearing, storming our positions. One conclusion is that they want to achieve results. Poorly trained or completely untrained can only expose our firing points, positions, and well-trained soldiers can succeed. Their aviation and artillery systems are working,” concluded the representative of the 60th OMBr.
