Kateryna Usyk, the wife of Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, reacted with humor to the detention of her husband at Krakow airport.
Kateryna published in Instagram Stories a joke and a photo of Usyk from his fight against Tyson Fury in the image of a hetman.
It was called “unfit for flight”. The mass media disclosed the details of Usyk’s detention at Krakow airport
“We thought that it was Bohdan Khmelnytskyi who had come again to give money like in 1648,” the Poles explained the reason for Usyk’s arrest,” the post reads.
It was reported that on the evening of September 17, Usyk was detained at Krakow airport.
He and his coach, Serhii Lapin, were denied boarding after an airline representative decided they were “unfit for travel”
Usyk tried to explain that everything is fine with them and they are simply exhausted after the almost 14-hour journey from Kyiv. However, due to the language barrier and the fact that the boxer categorically claimed that they had not violated anything, he was detained.
At that time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga said that he considers the measures taken against Usyk “disproportionate and unacceptable” and intends to send a corresponding note to the Polish side.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi also reacted to the incident
Later, Usyk was released, the athlete himself explained that there was a misunderstanding and that everything is fine with him.
Later, the Ryanair airline revealed the details of Usyk’s detention, saying that the boxer’s colleague was the culprit.
