As of October 22, there is no threat of a breakthrough by the Russian occupiers from the Dnipro Islands near Kherson.
This was stated by the speaker of the Defense Forces of the South, Vladyslav Voloshyn, on the air of the telethon Edyni novyni.
At the same time, he does not rule out that the Russians may try to force some straits.
“As for the island part of the battle line, located opposite Kherson, it is under fire control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Therefore, near Kherson itself, there is no such great danger of a breach or forcing of the Dnipro. However, it is not excluded that the enemy will force some of the straits and try to capture some of the islands that are there,” Voloshyn said.
He explained that the Russians are conducting reconnaissance and search operations and are trying to identify the fire equipment of the Defense Forces.
“The enemy will constantly try to get to the right bank, because he understands that after gaining control of the islands, he can even more threaten Kherson and those settlements located on the right bank,” the spokesman warned.
On October 12, the Southern Defense Forces reported that Russian troops continue to increase their presence on the Kinburn spit, they may be preparing assaults and possible forcing of the territory in the area where the Dnipro flows into the Black Sea.
