There are means that can change the course of war. Interview with the commander of the Typhoon drone unit, which destroys the enemy in the four most difficult directions

“It’s a cool feeling when you destroy $50 million with an FPV drone or an attack aircraft,” Mykhailo Kmytyuk, nicknamed Michael, says NV about the work of his unit. He is the commander of a separate detachment of unmanned systems of special purpose Typhoon under the National Guard. The latter was organized only in the summer, but is already actively destroying Russian infantrymen and equipment, fighting on the four most difficult directions – Pokrovsky, Zaporizhzhya, Kupyansky and Slavyansky.

And this is just the beginning. After all, as Michael says, his squad is currently expanding in “geometric progression.”

A commander who has been serving in the army since 2015, NV talks about how he is forming a new drone unit, where he gets motivated fighters, what he sees as the main strength of Ukrainian UAVs and what the enemy is up against. And also explains why today the Russians manage to advance so quickly in Donbas and what technologies can still become a game changer in this war.

– Typhoon is a squad about what? How did it come about?

– It began to exist in the middle of summer. And it was launched at the beginning of September – then we already started full-fledged recruiting. The trend of war declares that we need more drones and more crews to match. Therefore, it was decided to create a unit like ours, which helps the brigades and reinforces them in different directions of the front.

— In the summer, the Forces of disembodied systems also arose. Are you related to them?
