The Women’s World Tennis Association (WTA) made an official statement regarding the Tennis Channel journalist’s statement John Wertheimwho incorrectly commented on the appearance of the Czech tennis player Barbora Krejchikova.
“It is unacceptable to make inappropriate comments about sportswomen. The WTA fully supports Barbora’s strong call for respect. This should become the norm for all women in any work environment. Respect is an inalienable right, not a privilege to be earned,” the association said in a statement.
Tennis Channel has already announced the temporary suspension John Wertheim from working on the channel due to this incident. We will remind that on the air he said: “Who do you think I am? Barbora Krejchikova? Look at the forehead,” alluding to the tennis player’s appearance.
