Vitalik: An Ethereum Story was more than three years in the making. Funds for its creation were raised in July 2021 as part of a crowdfunding campaign on the Mirror platform — in three days it was possible to collect 1,035.96 ETH ($1.9 million at that time).
Directed by Zach Ingrassi and Chris Temple. In 2023, they presented an artistic picture This Is Not Financial Advicededicated to Dogecoin.
Vitalik: An Ethereum Story consists of five episodes with a total running time of 2 hours:
- the history of the creation of the Ethereum community;
- “Encyclopedia of Rabbits” is a prototype metauniverse from Vitalik;
- Uniswap protocol launch;
- ConstitutionDAO’s attempt to buy a copy of the US Constitution;
- the Gitcoin project.
Vitalik’s father, Dmytro Buterin, who attended the premiere in Toronto, praised the film. According to him, the authors covered the main stages of history, the technical part of Ethereum, as well as the worldview of the team and their long-term vision of the project.
“Thank you so much to the creators for showing Vitalik’s personality and sincerity, as well as the spirit of the vibrant international Ethereum community,” he wrote on Facebook.
From September 20, the on-chain showing of Vitalik: An Ethereum Story will begin on streaming services. Tickets for it are sold in the form of tokens at a price of $20. The creators intend to sell 10,000 copies, the proceeds of which will go towards the marketing and distribution of the film.
A global release on streaming services is planned for early 2025.
