Details: According to him, due to new restrictive measures, the Russian leadership will be forced to make difficult choices and lose billions of dollars every month.

“(The new sanctions) are putting significant pressure on the Russian economy, which will increasingly force the Russian leadership to make difficult choices,” Kirby said.

The representative of the White House reminded that the sanctions introduced in November last year against Russian banks with international connections, including Gazprombank, hit the Russian energy sector hard.

“We believe this should increase the pressure (on Russia) and contribute to the already bleak economic outlook for 2025 and beyond for Mr. Putin and his wartime economy,” he added.

The day before, the USA announced new sanctions that hit the Russian oil refining industry. Russian oil giants Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz, in particular, fell under the restrictions.

Subsequently, the British government announced the introduction of sanctions against the Russian companies Gazprom Neft and PJSC Surgutneftegaz.
