The Verkhovna Rada supported the bill on the reform of the Accounting Chamber in the first reading.

People’s deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this.

246 People’s Deputies voted “for” the bill.

The project provides:

  • extending the mandate to all public finances.
  • strengthening of the financial, political and administrative independence of the Republic of Poland.
  • a transparent competition for RP members with the decisive vote of international experts.
  • formal parliamentary procedures for reviewing reports and monitoring the implementation of recommendations.
  • reduction of the number of members of the Accounting Chamber from 13 to 11.
  • implementation of periodic external evaluation by independent experts with international audit experience.

The corresponding draft law is on the list of beacons of the IMF and the USA for receiving financial assistance, says Zhelezniak.
