Today, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has considered and approved the Resolution No. 13041 “A statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on support of democracy in Ukraine in the face of aggression of the Russian Federation”, which the day before was not allowed. 268 people’s deputies voted in favor of the document.

Basic provisions of the Resolution:
- The Verkhovna Rada emphasizes that Vladimir Putin is responsible for the impossibility of organizing free, transparent and democratic elections in Ukraine in the current environment.
- The introduced martial law does not allow elections to be held in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine. The Ukrainian people are the only thing that the elections should take place after the war is over.
- Following the establishment of a sustainable peace, according to the Verkhovna Rada, the presidential election will be held in Ukraine in accordance with international election standards.
- Parliament emphasizes that Volodymyr Zelenskyy was elected in the free and transparent elections, and his mandate is not questioned by the Verkhovna Rada or the Ukrainian people.
- President Zelensky must exercise his / her powers until the newly elected President is admitted to the post of the newly elected President, in accordance with Article 108 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
- The Verkhovna Rada appealed to international partners calling for efforts to victory over the aggressor and establish a just peace, which will restore democratic processes in Ukraine.
This resolution has become an important signal for both Ukrainian society and the international community, confirming Ukraine’s democus on democratic principles, even in war.
Earlier, we wrote that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading a government bill, under which persons convicted for committing crimes against national security will be granted a limited pension of UAH 2361. Restrictions will only apply when serving a sentence.
We will remind, the Verkhovna Rada also supported in the first reading the project of the law on state secret. The Legislative Initiative No. 11394 was supported by 241 MPs.
