The Dicastery for the Ministry of Mercy sent three trucks with humanitarian aid to Kyiv and Fastov, containing 80 electric generators, thousands of packages of medicines and food.
As reported by Vatican News, this event was a response to Pope Leo XIV’s call to support Ukrainians after repeated bombings of energy infrastructure by the Russian Federation.
The cargo, collected at the initiative of the Pope and with the assistance of communities in Poland and Italy, includes antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs and other critical medicines. The cars left from the Hagia Sophia in Rome and have already reached their destinations. The aid is aimed at overcoming the consequences of the energy crisis and ensuring the medical needs of the civilian population.
Currently, under the leadership of Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, preparations are underway to send another truck. The next batch will contain additional amounts of antibiotics, hypotensive agents and food products. Vatican charity initiatives continue to scale up through dioceses across Europe to support affected areas.
As a reminder, the first French generators will arrive in Ukraine – 13 units from the promised batch of 150.
Also, 300 generators were sent to Ukraine by the Cooperation Initiative in South-Eastern Europe.
