Literally: “This targeted operation was conducted in response to the Houthis’ repeated unlawful attacks on international commercial shipping, as well as US, coalition, and merchant vessels in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden. It also aimed to weaken the Houthis’ ability to threaten to regional partners”.
Details: The strikes were aimed at weapons warehouses where modern weapons were stored, in particular, anti-ship missiles and unmanned systems.

In addition, the US destroyers Stockdale and Spruance, along with US Air Force and Navy aircraft, successfully destroyed a number of Houthi launchers while passing through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

Prehistory:
- It was previously reported that American warplanes on the evening of Saturday, November 9, struck several weapons storage sites belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
- The US and Britain have repeatedly struck Houthi targets in Yemen since the beginning of the year in response to their attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
- The Houthis say the attacks allegedly target vessels linked to Israel and are intended to show solidarity with the Palestinians during the war in the Gaza Strip.
- In October, the US said it intended to maintain a military presence in the Red Sea region to work with a coalition of other countries to protect civilian shipping from attacks by Iran-backed militants.
