“The US State Department renamed the Institute of Peace, which previously had the status of an independent expert institution, to the institution named after President Donald Trump. At the same time, neither the future financing nor the structure’s subordination format have been definitively determined.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua

Details: On Dec. 4, the State Department announced the renaming of the US Institute of Peace in Trump’s honor and released a photo to show the new inscription of his name on the building to “celebrate the greatest deal maker in our nation’s history.”

The renaming was timed to the signing of the agreement in Washington, which should be the end of the war between Rwanda and the Congo.
The Peace Institute was established by the US Congress in 1984 as an independent think tank, but with government funding.
The future of the Institute was in question, because in the budget request for the next fiscal year, the Trump administration proposed not to pledge any federal funds for its activities. The administration’s “absorption” of this institution, including the building and assets, became the subject of a legal dispute.
In March, representatives of the Department of Government Efficiency, headed by Elon Musk at the time, tried to enter there (they failed at first and returned with the police), then the administration fired most of the board members, and the employees were finally fired in July. The White House argues that the Institute was “an unnecessary institution that spent $50 million a year without ensuring peace.”
“Now the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace, beautifully and aptly named after the president who ended eight wars in less than a year, will serve as a powerful reminder of what strong leadership can do for global stability,” commented White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly.
Former employees called it a sad irony that the administration renamed after Trump the institution it effectively destroyed, and they still hope for success in court.
We will remind:
- In September, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order granting the US Department of Defense an additional name – “Ministry of War” (Department of War).
- Trump also arranged a large-scale this fall reconstruction of the east wing of the White House to the hall for ceremonial receptions, for which the historical building of the eastern wing was completely demolished, without asking public opinion.
