Details: On January 28, Judge Lauren Alichan reported a decision in response to a lawsuit of the Democracy Forward activists group. They argued that the Decree of the Administrative and Budget Administration of the White House violates the first amendment and the law on administrative procedures that regulate the rulemaking activity of the executive power. The judge noted that she would make the final decision on February 3.

The claim of 22 states and the Columbia County, which also try to block the Trump administration’s initiative before its final review, is being considered separately.

“We are grateful for this administrative stop that will give our clients time to understand the chaos created by the hasty and ill -considered actions of the Trump administration,” said Sky Perriman, President and Executive Director of Democracy Fourcy.

Literally: “This decision was the second case when the federal judge intervened to suspend the extended interpretation of Trump’s own powers and allow the trial. Earlier, Western District Judge Washington, John Kugenur, issued a temporary judicial prohibition that blocked Trump’s attempt to stop American land. ”

Prehistory:

  • On the first day of US President, Trump signed a decree suspension of all external assistance programs for 90 days to determine whether they meet its political goals.
  • The US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ukraine has ordered to suspend all the projects and expenditures on them after the US State Department’s order to stop the assistance programs for other countries for 90 days for audit.
  • The deputy head of the Presidential Office Irina Vereshchuk announced consultations with the United States through the decision of the Donald Trump administration to freeze humanitarian and other assistance.
  • At the same time, US military assistance does not fall under the freezing order and continues to come to Ukraine in accordance with the decisions of the previous administration, Joe Biden.
