A strike on Ukraine with a Rubezh, Oreshnyk or Kedr missile – what is known
The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that on the morning of November 21, Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile over Ukraine from the Astrakhan region, it was flying towards the Dnipro.
Hazel, aka Cedar. Budanov told the NATO countries about the characteristics of the new Russian missile and the purpose of the strike on the Dnipro
Ukrainian Pravda, citing its sources, wrote that the occupiers probably used the RS-26 Rubezh intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time.
Western officials did not confirm the information about the intercontinental missile to the media and said that it was probably an experimental medium-range ballistic missile. An unnamed U.S. official told CNN that Russia has only a few such missiles and that Ukraine has been hit by missiles with more powerful warheads.
On the same day, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced in an address that Russian troops attacked the Dnipro with the latest Oreshnyk medium-range system, about which there was no information before.
Subsequently, specialists of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense stated that the strike on November 21 could have been carried out “ballistic missile from the Kedr missile complex”. According to GUR, its tests took place in October 2023 and June 2024.
BILD expert on open data analysis Julian Röpke said that Russia struck the Dnipro on November 21 with a modification of the RS-26 Rubezh missile, which did not have a warhead.
