The Ukrainian military points out that the enemy is using an old tactic – infiltrating separate groups in the area of villages not controlled by it in order to shoot staged videos with the tricolor, to simulate “control” and pass losses off as successes.
The Third Army Corps claims that “each of these groups is being systematically destroyed by Ukrainian units,” but the commanders of the 20th Army of the Russian Federation continue to report “fictitious achievements to satisfy the higher command.”
In November, the Russian side announced the alleged capture of the settlements of Stavka and Novoselyvka.
These are not the first such statements of the Russian Federation, which the Ukrainian side denies. The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) notes that the Russian military command continues to use the raising of flags on the battlefield to support its claims about Russia’s successes. Analysts estimate that Russian flag-raisings on the battlefield were part of Russian infiltration missions that did not change control of the area, and Russia increasingly relies on video footage of Russian flag-raisings to announce advances.
