The first day in the Hungarian capital proved exhausting, with technical problems delaying the opening match and the match against Fluxo ending well after midnight. However, as the captain noted Rodion “fEAR” Smikthe team was able to maintain concentration and spirit.
“We understand that technical problems are common, especially on the first day. We did very well, to be honest, it didn’t affect us,” he said.
In the conversation, fEAR shared his thoughts on the performance in Budapest, training with a new player and the atmosphere in the team. According to fEAR, they did not expect an opponent to choose Train again:
“To be honest, they decided to go to Train against us. We didn’t expect this, it’s our best map and we don’t understand why teams choose it. They chose – and we simply destroyed them.”
The newcomer to the team, jackasmo, joined quite late, but fnatic still managed to spend a few weeks of training:
“Maybe not 100%, but there was enough time for preparation. Two and a half weeks of practice – and, finally, real practice, because before that there was a tournament-rest day-tournament. So we’re not at our peak, but we’re fine.”
Now fnatic consists of three former Passion UA players and two veterans. fEAR assures that the difference in age or experience does not create discomfort:
“The dynamics are very good. I have said many times that everything is smooth and pleasant, it is not surprising – everything is really very good. Good mood, jokes, and we don’t feel the age difference.”
He also thanked fnatic for their trust, in particular regarding the selection of players:
“It’s not about friends. I came to the international team to choose the best. And at that moment it was the best option. We have known each other for many years, he played at the Shanghai Major, he performed well – that’s my answer.”
Going into the pool 2-1, fnatic prepare for the Bo3 of the series:
“We still have to add to the team. Against Fluxo, for example, we had the opportunity to close the game, but we lost our concentration. In BO3, we haven’t shown a lot of Major blanks yet, so it’s all good.”
