Details: According to the publication’s sources, representatives of the Trump administration have held preliminary discussions on how to carry out an attack on Iran, if necessary to carry out the threats of the US president, including which facilities could become targets.

One of the options being discussed is a large-scale air strike on several Iranian military facilities, one of the officials said. Another official said no consensus had been reached on the next course of action and that military equipment and personnel had not been moved to prepare for the strike.
The sources cautioned that the talks were part of routine planning. According to them, there are no signs of an imminent attack on Iran.
According to the Iranian human rights organization Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, protests broke out again in Tehran, the northern city of Rasht and other cities on Saturday night.
Iran’s military said on Saturday it would “resolutely defend national interests, strategic infrastructure and state assets”, blaming Israel and what it called terrorist groups for the unrest and vowing to “thwart the enemy’s plans”.
The military’s statement of intervention was an escalation by the authorities, until now only the police and paramilitary security forces had participated in the suppression of protests, the publication said.
The number of dead in the country continues to grow against the background of the Internet shutdown and interruptions in the work of telephone communication, which made it difficult to obtain accurate information about the events.
According to the human rights organization Human Rights Activists in Iran, as of Friday evening, at least 65 people, most of whom were protesters, had died during the protests. The organization said more than 2,300 people had been arrested and the protests had spread to 180 cities in Iran.
Prehistory:
- Mass protests have been ongoing in Iran since December 28. Initially, due to the collapse of the national currency and huge inflation, the traders at the Grand Bazaar in Tehran staged a strike. Then the protests covered almost the entire country. After 10 days, two cities in the west of Iran came under the control of the protesters.
- Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei admitted that there are economic problems, but explained them as “the work of the enemy”. He also stated that “it’s useless to talk with rioters” and they “need to be put in their place.”
- Earlier it was reported that more than 50 people had already died.
- January 10 pUS resident Donald Trump said that the United States is ready to help Iran in its struggle for freedom.
