The prosecutor’s office in Berdychiv, in Zhytomyr Oblast, ensured the real implementation of the court’s decision to return to the state from private ownership an architectural monument of local importance – the Tereshchenko manor house, located in Chervone village of Berdychiv district. This was reported by the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office, writes UNN.

In the State Register of Property Rights to Real Estate, the ownership of the state, represented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, to a complex of buildings with an estimated cost of UAH 148 million is registered.

The complex includes a palace of the 19th century, buildings that housed a workshop, stables and other farm premises with a total area of ​​more than 4,400 m2.

All buildings, which constitute the cultural heritage of the region, were transferred to the balance sheet of the Korostyshiv Vocational Agrarian Lyceum.

In 2000, the Grokholsky-Tereshchenko palace was handed over to the monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate by the session of the Chervonensk settlement council. Since then, a nunnery has been operating in the palace.

The case of returning the Tereshchenko manor house to the state was considered by courts of various instances for several years. In January 2024, the North-Western Commercial Court of Appeal ruled that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate should return the Tereshchenko Palace to the state.
