This is evidenced by the results of a survey of the Kiev International Institute of Sociology. Another 19% of respondents speak Ukrainian and Russian.
The proportion of those who communicate in life in Ukrainian has increased by 11%in five years. At the same time, the number of those who speak Russian fell from 25% to 13%.
According to a survey, in the central regions of Ukraine increased those who speak Ukrainian. Yes, in 2020, there were 62%, and now 68%.
Positive dynamics are also recorded in the south and east of Ukraine. In 2020, 22% and 17% spoke in Ukrainian, and in 2025 the state said 39% and 29%, respectively.
The use of Russian in everyday life in these regions also decreased: in the south – from 42% to 24%, and in the East – from 53% to 32%.
According to a poll from July 2024, 78% of Ukrainian citizens consider Ukrainian native language. For comparison, in 2006, such citizens were only 52%.
Also, the vast majority of Ukrainians think only negative words about “ordinary inhabitants of Russia”, and the word “Russia” causes negative associations in more than 90%.
