Moraes noted that on Sunday, August 3, when Bolsonar’s supporters took to the streets in several cities of the country, the former president used his allies on social networks to spread messages that contained “obvious calls and incitement to the assault on the Supreme Federal Court.
“There is no doubt that the measure of restraint has been broken,” Moraes announced.
The court forbade Bolsonar to receive visitors except close relatives and lawyers, and police ordered the removal of all the mobile phones of the politician. Visitors who will receive permission to meet with the former president will be forbidden to use phones, take photos or shoot videos.
In his decree, Moraes stressed that despite the ban on the use of social networks, Bolsonar took part in his support on Sunday by phone. One of his sons, Flavio, switched on a loud connection during the action for a short time so that he would turn to those present in Rio de Janeiro. He later posted a video where his father addresses supporters, but later removed the post. The judge called it an “obvious” attempt to conceal the violations of the restrictions imposed by the court.
“The flashy ignoring of precautionary measures was so obvious that – and it should be repeated – the son of the accused himself, Senator Flavio Naness Bolsonaru, decided to remove the post from his Instagram account to hide the offense,” the judge said.
Prehistory:
- Bolsonar is accused of attempting a coup, a violent abolition of democracy and the rule of law, as well as the creation of a criminal organization.
- Brazil’s Federal Police presented the 884-page report with evidence that Bolsonar had been directly involved in the preparation of a coup in order to abolish the elections of 2022, which he lost.
- In case of guilt of Bolsonar, more than 40 years of imprisonment.
