Scientists continue to study the so -called Leonardo Da Vinci screw, which can be more perfect than a modern screw with four blades.

Da Vinci, who is known not only as an artist and architect but also an engineer, created a helicopter prototype more than 500 years ago. It is the earliest design of the screw-rotor that can create lifting force. Leonardo invented her several centuries before the start of flights.
The prospect of design for modern drones was noted by Professor of Mechanical Engineering Rajat Mittal from Johns Hopkins University. According to him, the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic characteristics of the invention are not sufficiently appreciated.
Mitall on the computer modeled the Da Vinci air screw, studying its lift, power and noise. He explained that modern drones are strongly buzzing through the air vortices at the tips of the blades. In his opinion, the design of Da Vinci, which has only one screw -shaped blade, will be silently scattering the air, while having the same lifting force as the usual screws.
“Da Vinci’s air screw demonstrated much lower than the consumption of mechanical power and acoustic intensity per unit of lift,” the study said.
Scientists continue to study the characteristics of the design created by DA Vinci. They find out how much it retains the stability and structural integrity before moving to the creation of screwdriver apparatus equipped with Da Vinci screw.
Other facts about da Vinci’s inventionsEarlier, scientists have debunked the so -called “tree rule” da Vinci. The artist believed that the thickness of the branches of the tree could be calculated mathematically. He argued that the thickness of the tree branch or its trunk is equal to the sum of the thickness of all branches that depart from it. But modern scientists have proven that this ratio does not converge at the microscopic level.
