Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion of the head of the State Geocadastre of one of the western regions, which previously headed the Office in Chernivtsi region.
According to the DBR press service, he is suspected of abuse of office during the transfer to private ownership of more than 1.4 hectares of land for over UAH 2 million.
In 2020-2021, the official illegally transferred the plots in Chernivtsi and the village was announced under the guise of providing land for a personal peasant farm. In fact, the land belonged to communities and could not be distributed without their consent.
The DBR notes that the official personally controlled the registration of documents and demanded to speed up the consideration of applications from certain persons. Law enforcement officers also check the possible corruption component in its actions.
The official was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to 6 years in prison. The prosecutor’s office initiates his removal from office and election of a preventive measure.
