The situation in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhiv directions, where the Russian troops are concentrating their main offensive efforts, remains tense, according to the evening summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on November 28.

“At present, 188 combat clashes have taken place. Today, the terrorist state launched two missile strikes using 97 missiles, 23 airstrikes, dropping 44 anti-aircraft missiles. In addition, the invaders used more than seven hundred kamikaze drones for strikes and carried out about 3,900 attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas,” the message states.

According to the headquarters, in the Pokrovsky direction, the forces of the Russian Federation attacked the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine 50 times in the areas of Myrolyubivka, Promeny, Lysivka, Krutoy Yar, Dachensky, Zhovtoy, Chumatsky, Novy Trud and Pustinka. According to the available information of the General Staff, the losses of the Russian Federation in the direction for today amount to 442 people killed and wounded.

“Today, in the Kurakhiv direction, the invaders made 42 attempts to advance. The fighting is mainly taking place near the settlements of Sontsivka, Berestka, Novodmytrivka, Kurakhove, Dalnye, Elizavetivka, Romanivka, Antonivka, Uspenivka and Dachne. In this direction, the losses of the enemy amounted to 63 occupiers killed and 74 wounded,” the summary states.

The Russian army also carried out 24 attacks in the Kupyansk direction. In addition, Russian forces advanced in the Kharkiv, Lyman, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Vremiv and Dnieper directions.

On November 26, analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that Russian troops are making tactical gains in the west of Donetsk region, approaching the encirclement of Velika Novosilka and posing threats to Ukrainian supply lines leading to Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, but for now this does not mean “automatic collapse of the Ukrainian front”. Even if Russian forces are able to achieve their operational objectives, Russian forces will need to capture more than 8,000 square kilometers of territory to achieve their goal of capturing all of Donetsk Oblast, ISW says.

According to the project of Radio Liberty Donbas.Realii, the main battle of the winter will obviously be the battle for Pokrovsk, to which the Russian army is approaching from the south and southeast.
