The Security Service has gathered evidence against the war criminal Andrii Popov, the 54-year-old head of the so-called “Association for the Assistance of the Army, Aviation and Navy of the Russian Federation” in the temporarily occupied Crimea. He is engaged in introducing the occupation ideology among local schoolchildren.

According to the case file, the suspect uses an enemy cell for combat and ideological training of local schoolchildren for the war against Ukraine. Within the walls of the occupation institution, children, mostly 14 years old, are taught to act as part of the occupier’s assault groups, as well as to control the attack and reconnaissance drones of the aggressor country. Also, at the “courses”, schoolchildren master the technique of shooting with various types of weapons and learn to overcome mined areas. For training, Russian instructors use training grounds and training centers of the Russian Armed Forces in the Simferopol area.
Another component of the educational process is the propaganda “processing” of schoolchildren in the context of hatred of Ukrainian statehood. At present, Popov, on the directive of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, is organizing another branch of the occupation institution in the temporarily occupied part of the territory of the Zaporizhzhia region. The person involved regularly “reports” on the implementation of Moscow’s instructions on the airs of the Kremlin TV channels “Crimea 24” and “News of Crimea and Sevastopol”.
According to the investigation, the suspect, living on the territory of the Ukrainian peninsula, supported the aggressor back in 2014, and later received a “position” in the occupation administration of the Russian Federation.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified Popov in absentia of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪ h. 1 Art. 438 (war crimes);
▪ h. 3 Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine).

In addition, the Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained another enemy agent in Donetsk region. The perpetrator turned out to be a 67-year-old resident of Lyman, who worked for Russian military intelligence and was waiting for the capture of the city.
