How many Ukrainians signed the contract today, the leadership of the Legion does not announce. They only say that it is twice as much as last time – November 12, 2024.
According to the Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin, Oleg Kuts, after the signing of the first contacts, there was a surge of questionnaires to the rectoring center. Now there are about 1,300 of them.
“The geography of those willing to join the Legion has expanded. Now it is not only Ukrainians from European countries. It is also noteworthy that today we have several women,” Kuts said in a commentary to Radio Liberty.
Petro Horkusha, a representative of the command of the Ukrainian Legion, clarified that three female volunteers expressed their desire to serve in the Ukrainian Legion “in the positions of medical workers and communication units.”
Volunteers who joined the Defense Forces today are from Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovakia, Denmark, Germany. The youngest of them is 20 years old, the oldest is 55.

“I understand what risks I am taking and what can await me. Most of my friends have been in the war for a long time. They partly motivated me to take this conscious step. I think that my time has also come,” says Andriy, who came from Slovakia. He lived and worked there for the last five years.
It is reported that the term of the first stage of training, which continues at the Polish training ground, has been extended to 45 days. Before that, it was planned that the legionnaires would train for 35 days. The reason for the extension of the term of the first stage of training is the improvement of the program, the representative of the legion said.
“Volunteers, who were the first to sign contracts with the Armed Forces in November of last year, are now continuing their training at the Ukrainian training ground. After that, part of them will receive training in their specialty at the training grounds of Europe,” the report says.
