The Security Service of Ukraine initiated criminal proceedings against V.V. Petrov on suspicion of treason. Proceedings have been opened since January 14, 2026 under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, Petrov, as a blogger, TV presenter and producer of Lumpen Production LLC, using his own media resources, in particular the projects “Iceland”, “School of Corruption” and “Lumpen Show”, assisted Russia in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine.
He denied the fact of the invasion of regular Russian troops, presenting the war as a civil conflict, recognized the terrorist groups “DPR” and “LPR” as state entities, promoted the rejection of Ukrainian state symbols and conducted information and psychological operations aimed at disrupting the mobilization of citizens to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The state institution “National Military Memorial Cemetery” confirmed that Volodymyr Petrov, the host of the “Iceland” YouTube channel, holds the position of a leading specialist of the department of communications and information technologies.
