The Russian Combrigen Roman Shkrob was informed in absentia of the suspicion that he “ordered the attack of Ukrainian defenders in Donetsk region forbidden chemical weapons”, the SBU press service said.

The SBU is said to be a commander of the 123rd Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Southern Military District of Russia.

According to the investigation, on December 20, 2023, the Kombrig of the Russian Federation ordered the subordinates to use gas grenades K-51 and RG-in against the Ukrainian military in Donetsk region. At the same time, according to the SBU, “the enemy tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops during continuous battles in the area of ​​the village of Spirne.”

“Using chemical charge grenades, including tear gas, the racists hoped to force Ukrainian soldiers to leave defensive shelters during the attack of the assault groups of the invaders,” the SBU wrote.

The Ukrainian military was declared on the use of chemicals on the battlefield by Russian troops. The victims were not reported as a result of their use, as well as whether such use of any success by the Russian troops.

Russian authorities reject accusations of the use of chlorpikrin and other chemicals against Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly stated that Ukraine is preparing provocation to accuse Russia of the use of chemical weapons at the front.
