The CEO of the Defense Plant and his first deputy detained in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine, who put 120,000 defective mortar shells in the Armed Forces.
According to the SBU, in addition to the directors of the state -owned enterprise, the SBU employees detained the excluder of one of the military missions of the Ministry of Defense and the head of the control group of the relevant unit.
According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2024 the plant management concluded an agreement with the Defense Procurement Agency for the production of ammunition for the Armed Forces Land Forces. According to the signed documents, the company had to put the troops of mortar shots.
“However, for serial production of shells, the persons involved used poor quality materials and performed work with a defect, which led to not the operation of the capsule of the main metal charge and the lack of stable operation of all powder charge. The ammunition also included additional metal charges that do not meet the standards of combat use, ”the SBU noted.
The intelligence service noted that in this way the organizers of the equipment tried to reduce the cost of production to make more profit from government orders.
“In the implementation of the scheme, the plant management involved military representation officials who should control the quality of defense products. According to the case file, military officials deliberately “covered their eyes” on a defective ammunition party and introduced false information to the reporting documentation, ”the SBU emphasized.
As a result, 120,000 unusable shots were found to the front, which was confirmed by the conclusions of the professional examination.
Currently, investigators of the Security Service have reported all four detainees of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 2 of Art. 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the legitimate activity of the Armed Forces and other military formations, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, which led to grave consequences). The attackers are threatened with up to 15 years in prison.
