According to the investigation, since January 2024, the military man, in collusion with his supervisor – the deputy commander of the brigade, organized a mechanism for receiving money from servicemen who did not want to serve. For half the salary, the “military servicemen” did not show up for duty at all, and some were even issued combat pay from time to time. This scheme caused losses to the state of more than 3 million hryvnias.
The number of servicemen who evaded military duty in this way reached more than 50, the department noted. The actions of all without exception the participants of the specified illegal scheme will be given a legal assessment.
The commander of the group is suspected of exceeding his official authority, committed under martial law (Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and faces up to 12 years in prison.
Earlier, the State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to the commander of the material support group of the 110th separate mechanized brigade, who participated in extortion from subordinate servicemen.
