Probably, Russia did it demonstratively, because it did not use camouflage elements.

The satellite showed the preparation of the Russian nuclear missile R-30 The satellite showed the preparation of “Bulava” / Defense ExpressA satellite image showing the preparation of the Russian intercontinental ballistic missile P-30 “Bulava” appeared online. This missile is one of the components of the “nuclear triad” of the Russian Federation and is based on the Project 955 Borei nuclear-powered submarine cruisers.

According to Defense Express, the first to draw attention to this image were Russian specialized resources, which claim that it shows the work of the 12th Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, which is responsible for the maintenance of nuclear weapons. Such pictures are rare for the public space, because until now satellite photos of preparatory work with Russian nuclear missiles were almost never published.

The exact time and place of the picture remain unknown. The image probably shows a transport-launch container with a R-30 Bulava missile (gray) in the lower left corner, as well as several support vehicles.

The Russian side does not take any measures to disguise, carrying out the preparation of a sea-based ballistic missile in fact openly. This can be regarded as a demonstrative step aimed at psychological impact, since the West has the opportunity to constantly monitor these processes with the help of satellites, in particular, operations related to the nuclear weapons of the Russian Federation.

This incident with a satellite image emphasizes the “transparency” of such activities, and there is reason to assume that similar activities are taking place at the strategic aviation airfields of the Russian Federation under the close supervision of Western satellites.

Bulava rocket – referenceR-30 “Bulava-30” is a solid-fuel ballistic missile of the D-30 complex, which is intended for submarines of the 955 “Borey” project. According to data from open sources, “Bulava” is capable of carrying 6-10 combat units of 100-150 kt. The total weight to be thrown is 1150 kg. The maximum range of the missile is 9,300 km.

Over the years of testing, “Bulava” has earned the reputation of a rather capricious weapon. Due to technical problems, many launches were unsuccessful or only partially successful.

In November, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that new tests of the missile also proved unsuccessful, although the Russians announced an alleged successful launch.

In addition, last year it was reported that Russia decommissioned the Dmytro Donsky nuclear submarine, which was the largest in the world in terms of displacement and was used for Bulava tests.
