The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced one of the administrators of the Melitopol Telegram-channel “is Ukraine”, a citizen of Ukraine Vladislav Gershon to 15 years in prison. About it reports the edition “Mediazon” with reference to the press service. For the first three years he will be in prison, the rest – in the colony of the strict regime.

The court found a 27-year-old gershon guilty of espionage, participation in the terrorist community and committing a terrorist attack with significant property losses in the organized group. The case was considered in a closed regime because of the presence of state secrets in materials.

The Russian investigation believes that at the task of GUR, the administrators of the channel asked subscribers to report feedback on the accumulation of Russian military and equipment, and then transmitted information to the Ukrainian military. According to Media Again, Hershon was accused of bringing Ukrainian missiles to the building of Melitopol College, where the Rosgvardy and FSB administrators in the Russian occupied part of Zaporizhzhya region were housed. No one was injured during a blow to the building in March 2023.

Administrators of pro-Ukrainian telegrams-channels about the Russian troops occupied by Melitopol were detained in August 2023, the FSB announced the detention only in October. About 10 people were detained. One of them, Mark Kaliysh, returned to Ukraine on August 24 and told Radio Liberty about torture.

Another detained by Georgy Levchenko administered the Ria-Melitopol telegram. The Russian “Zaporizhzhya Regional Court” (he operates in Melitopol) appointed him 16 years of strict regime. It became known on September 2. The press release of the Russian institution claims that Levchenko collected and conveyed to the Ukrainian intelligence “data on the places of dislocation of military units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, which later prepared a rocket-bombing strike from the Armed Forces.” The investigation qualified this as a state treason, that is, Levchenko probably had a Russian passport. He was also accused of calling for extremism, reports TV channel “Infantry.” It is not reported whether Gershon and Levchenko were guilty of whether they intend to challenge the sentence.

The situation around the Russian and the Melitopol Media Activists and Journalists was devoted to investigating “Reporters without borders”. The cases of four other people who arrested in 2023 were allocated to separate proceedings, the court in Rostov considers them one by one. Location and procedural status of the detained journalist “Ria-Melitopol” Anastasia Glukhovskaya is unknown. According to the edition of Grata, in 2024 relatives of the journalist learned that she was transferred to a Taganrog, a city in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.

Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region was one of the first Ukrainian cities occupied by Russia after a full -scale invasion in February 2022. It employs the Russian authorities of the Moscow -controlled part of Zaporizhzhya region.
