The rescuers clarified that the main works continued at two locations – in one of them, an apartment building suffered “significant destruction”, some people were under rubble and blocked in their apartments. Rescuers extinguished fires and dismantled structures at the same time.
“The work lasted 4 days and ended on November 22 at 6:00 p.m. Departments of the State Emergency Service from 9 regions, canine experts, heavy equipment, doctors and psychologists were involved. The work was carried out in difficult conditions, in particular manually at the level of 5-6 floors. 33 people died, including 6 children. 94 were injured, including 18 children,” the State Emergency Service said.
In addition, it is known what happened 46 people were savedincluding seven children.
“Unfortunately, 6 people are considered missing, including 1 child. About 1,298 tons of construction waste were removed. During the work, the rescuers found 3 pets (2 cats and a parrot) and handed them over to their owners,” the agency concluded.
As a result of the Russian attack on November 19, residential buildings were hit in Ternopil. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two residential 9-story buildings were damaged in the city: in one – a fire, in the other – destruction from the 3rd to the 9th floor.
