In Ukraine, the situation with electricity supply differs depending on the region: in the western regions, light is already stable, and in the front-line and border areas, recovery is delayed. The main reason is the degree of damage to the energy infrastructure and the difficulty of carrying out repair work. It is reported Telegram channel National Energy Company “Ukrenergo”.
In the front-line areas, the enemy strikes not only with missiles and drones, but also with barrel artillery and aerial bombs. Because of this, repairmen cannot quickly restore the lines, and constant air alarms create an additional hazard.
“In the frontline areas, the work of repair crews is complicated by constant shelling and alarms. Therefore, the process of restoring light there is slower,” Ukrenergo reports.
In regions further from the front, the damage is less, and repair work is faster. In addition, electricity from the EU is already imported to the western regions, which allows for stable power supply for local consumers. “De-energizing Transcarpathia will not add electricity to the residents of front-line Zaporizhzhia, because kilowatts cannot physically be transferred between regions,” energy experts explain.
Ukrenergo emphasizes that there are no priority regions: all damaged lines will be restored, but it will take time. The difference in the speed of the return of light is caused only by the degree of destruction and the possibility of connecting energy with the EU.
