“They (police officers – ed.) arrived where he was, they detained him on the street. He was really at that address, they stopped him, seeing that he was conscripted. They just moving along the route, as I understand it, discovered this person, the victim,” said Oleksiy Grodskyi.
When asked whether the police took the man to the TCC, the prosecutor confirmed, noting that “they delivered him to the center.”
Today, the Pechersk court ordered both suspects to be placed under 24-hour house arrest until December 18. This was requested by the prosecutor, the defense and the suspects did not object.
The prosecutor, in a comment to Radio Svoboda, noted that the prosecution is satisfied with the court’s decision. At the same time, he explained why he asked for 24-hour house arrest for police suspects:
“Based on the behavior of the suspects, the fact that they themselves appeared before the investigation, gave testimony to the court, they help the pretrial investigation body in every possible way, their active position and the fact that they admit their guilt, repent for this situation, that’s why such a preventive measure is in place,” said Grodskyi.
During the speech in court, the lawyers of the police noted that the suspects admit their guilt, sincerely repent, provided all the necessary evidence to the investigation and are ready to fully cooperate. Currently, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
“What was sprayed there at the moment, I don’t know, because I was here at the court session. Today, certain actions were to be taken regarding the inspection of the car in which it was carried out, whether the canister is there or not, if it is – seizure and so on… The investigation is ongoing, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, all necessary measures are being taken,” the prosecutor explained.
To the journalist’s question whether the conscript resisted during transportation to the TCC, Grodskyi answered:
“There was no resistance at all, there were other circumstances, but now the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, unfortunately I cannot tell all the circumstances. Everything will happen after the verdict is pronounced and it enters into legal force. But there really were certain circumstances, certain events took place in the car,” the prosecutor said.
According to the prosecutor, the victim is currently on sick leave.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, the police officers hit the man numerous times on the head and body, as a result of which the victim received multiple bruises. Police officers are suspected of exceeding authority or official authority by a law enforcement officer.
