Georgescu made provocative statements / screenshotGeorgescu made provocative statements / screenshotRomanian ultra-nationalist, known for his pro-Russian position, Celin Georgescu, who won last year in the annulled first round of presidential elections in the country, claims that the West allegedly wants to organize the start of “the third world war”.

According to Politico, Georgescu made provocative statements that echo Russian narratives about the EU and NATO in an interview with American conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, host of a popular show with 3.6 million subscribers on Channel X.

Georgescu said the EU wants to “take control” of NATO before the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.

“When they control through [генерального секретаря Марка] Rutte – they are trying to impose their rules and push as much as possible to the third world war in the region, in particular, in Romania,” he said.

According to him, Romania is the “real door” for the start of the “third world war in Ukraine”. He added:

“Without Romania, they won’t be able to control this war.”

According to the politician, the “globalist elite”, to which he also includes the “financial and banking system” and “the beginning of the World Economic Forum”, as well as “oligarchs” and “real fascists”, are interested in expanding the war in Ukraine.

Elections in RomaniaRe-run presidential elections will be held in Romania on May 4, and the second round is scheduled for May 18. Although ultra-nationalist Georgescu has said he intends to run for re-election, the Constitutional Court could still disqualify him over allegations of undeclared funding.

Georgescu’s sensational victory in the first round of Romania’s presidential election on November 24 was overturned due to concerns about possible Russian interference in supporting his campaign. Despite the differences, he remains high in the polls ahead of a run-off election scheduled for May and could still win power in Bucharest.
