- In May, Fico was shot in the city of Handlova after an off-site government meeting.
- According to witnesses who were at the scene, the prime minister approached the people who greeted him, and that’s when several shots rang out. After that, the head of the government fell to the ground.
- According to the media, Fico was wounded in the chest and stomach, and his condition is serious.
- The media claimed that the attack was carried out by 71-year-old Juraj Tsintula, who may have been linked to the pro-Russian paramilitary group Slovenský Branci.
