Direct speech: “I must categorically deny the words of President Donald Trump. The canal is and will remain Panamanian.”
Details: He also dismissed Trump’s claim that China was exploiting the canal. “There is not a single country in the world that would interfere with the work of the channel,” Mulino emphasized.
In a statement on the X platform, Mulino emphasized that the channel was not broadcast in concession (agreement on the transfer of natural resources, enterprises, other economic objects for temporary exploitation to other states – UP).
It was the result of a generational struggle that culminated in 1999 in the Torrijos-Carter agreement.
According to him, for 25 years, Panama “continuously and responsibly” managed the canal, expanded it to “serve the world and trade”, in particular the United States.
The President of Panama also called for dialogue.
