On December 15, during his visit to Corsica, Pope Francis called on Ukrainians and Russians to “get along”, calling them “brothers, cousins”.
The Center indicated that Ukraine is grateful to the Vatican for participating in the negotiation process regarding the return of children abducted by Russia. However, the rhetoric about “fraternal nations” is “dangerous, because Russia uses it to justify its encroachments on the sovereignty of Ukraine.”
