Brazil could play a key role in the return of Ukrainian children who were illegally deported by Russia after the start of a full-scale invasion.
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, during an online conversation with Brazilian mass media, expressed his belief that Brazil, as a country that adheres to the values of human rights protection, can become an important partner in this process. In particular, it can join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, which has already been supported by 41 countries.
Yermak noted that Russia’s aggression has brought immense suffering to Ukrainians and poses a threat to the world order. The fate of children is particularly painful: 596 dead, 1,736 wounded, and thousands forcibly relocated to Russia. Their return remains one of the main priorities of the Ukrainian authorities.
According to Yermak, Brazil has the potential to become an important voice in the process of restoring international law and justice.
We previously wrote that the Russian occupiers deported more than three thousand Ukrainian children from the Kherson region in the summer of 2024. They were allegedly sent under the pretext of recreation.
