The UK Government has announced the selection of an image for the Christmas cards to be sent out by the Office of the Secretary of State for Scotland. The greeting will also be accompanied by an image created by a 12-year-old Ukrainian girl. It is written on the official website UNN.

Details

As State Secretary Ian Murray said, the golden-haired cherub next to the Christmas tree was drawn by 12-year-old Amelia Marchenko from the Donetsk region. The girl’s family was forced to escape the war twice – first in 2014, and later in 2022. Now Amelia lives in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh.

For the first time, a government office held a competition to create an image for a Christmas card. According to its terms, children between the ages of 5 and 16 who attend classes at the Ukrainian Community Center in Edinburgh could submit their works. Participants were asked to combine elements of Ukrainian and Scottish culture in their drawings.

We will remind

The Scottish Government plans to ban the use of WhatsApp and other non-corporate messengers on work phones from spring 2024. The decision was made after an external audit and a scandal with deleted messages during the pandemic.
