Donald Trump’s odious nominee for US attorney general, Matt Geitz, announced Thursday that he is withdrawing his candidacy from consideration.

Details: He noted that he had “great meetings” with senators yesterday and appreciated their thoughtful feedback and the “incredible support of many of them.”
“While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my election has unfairly distracted from the critical work of the Trump/Vance administration transition. Time cannot be wasted on an unnecessarily protracted tussle in Washington, so I am withdrawing my candidacy for attorney general.” he noted.
Geitz added that he remains “fully committed to making Donald Trump the most successful president in history.”
“I will always be honored that President Trump nominated me to head the Department of Justice, and I am confident that he will save America,” Geitz said.
Earlier, a number of Republican senators told Trump’s entourage that Geitz was unlikely to be confirmed in the Senate because of his mixed reputation.
The candidacy of the future attorney general of the United States caused criticism in the Ministry of Justice.
It will be recalled that Geitz – an ardent supporter of Trump – was the subject of a federal investigation in the case of human trafficking, which ended without charges, and the House of Representatives investigated his possible sexual relations with minors and illegal drug use.
In addition, Matt Geitz spread misinformation about Ukraine and demanded that all aid be stopped.
